Daily Wage Salary Calculator
Calculate exactly how much salary to pay a daily-wage worker: attendance days, half days, overtime and advances — all in one place. The same math Laborbook does automatically every month.
How daily wage salary is calculated
The standard formula used across India is: Payable Salary = (Daily Rate × Full Days) + (Daily Rate ÷ 2 × Half Days) + Overtime Pay − Advances Taken. A worker on ₹500/day who worked 24 full days and 2 half days, did 10 hours of overtime at ₹80/hour, and took ₹2,000 advance would be owed ₹12,000 + ₹500 + ₹800 − ₹2,000 = ₹11,300.
The most common mistakes happen in remembering attendance and advances, not in the multiplication. A missed half day or a forgotten ₹500 advance repeated across 10 workers becomes thousands of rupees every month — which is why serious contractors keep a daily hajri register instead of relying on memory at settlement time.
Frequently asked questions
How is a half day counted in daily wage salary?+
The usual convention is half the daily rate. Some employers use custom fractions for specific trades, but daily rate ÷ 2 is the standard across construction, workshops and shops in India.
Should advance be deducted before or after overtime?+
Order does not change the result — advance is a flat deduction from the final payable amount. Calculate base pay plus overtime first, then subtract all advances taken during the month.
How do I keep track of attendance and advances for many workers?+
A daily register is the only reliable way. The Laborbook app marks attendance in seconds, records every advance with a date, and calculates each worker’s payable salary automatically at month end.
